Accessibility statement

Our goal

As a practical target we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 level AA. This is a self-assessment; we have not commissioned a formal audit.

What we have done

• The site is built with semantic HTML and works without JavaScript — you can browse, filter and read every listing with scripting disabled.
• It is fully keyboard-navigable with a visible focus indicator and a 'skip to main content' link, and landmark regions (header, navigation, main, footer) structure every page.
• Form fields have programmatically-associated labels, and validation errors are announced to assistive technology rather than signalled by colour alone.
• Colour is not the only way information is conveyed. The site follows your device's light or dark setting, and you can also choose the theme yourself from the header; we aim for sufficient text contrast in both themes.
• Layouts are responsive: text scales with your browser font-size setting, and content reflows to small screens and increased zoom.
• Uploaded images can carry alternative text, and decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology.
• User-uploaded video is normally published without its audio track, so no synchronised audio is left uncaptioned; any essential information is also given as text. Looping background video is always silent.
• Where a video is published with audio, it carries captions in both Finnish and English, and the full spoken content is readable as text alongside the video everywhere the video is shown. It cannot be published until both caption tracks exist.
• Caption timings may be produced by a machine, and a machine may also draft the English translation, but neither counts as captions on its own: the text is published only once a person has read and saved it. Captions are delivered through your browser's own caption support, so your own font and colour settings apply.
• The interface is available in Finnish and English, with the page language marked up for screen readers.

Known limitations

• The interactive maps (based on Leaflet) have limited screen-reader support. All information shown on a map is also available as text — the same clubs, addresses and times appear in the listings and on each club page — so no content is map-only.
• Videos published with audio do not carry a separate audio description track. We publish with audio only where the picture conveys nothing the audio does not, and that judgement is recorded per video.
• Some directory content is provided by third parties (clubs and organisers), and its formatting and completeness can vary.
• The service is volunteer-run and evolving, so new pages or content can still introduce gaps. If you hit a barrier, please tell us.
